This heirloom was developed by Roland Morrill around 1895. Hearts of Gold Cantaloupe was granted a trademark on December 14, 1914, and became the most popular variety grown for the Midwest market in the 1930's.
Almost round, this variety produces good yields of 3 pound melons, with sweet, deep orange flesh, and a small seed cavity.
